I finally broke down two weeks ago and bought a 98' Susie with 1460 miles on her. She hadn't been driven in over a year. Thought the backfiring was from the sitting found out different. Thanks to all of you who posted the carburator mods, they work great-NO BACKFIRE, excuse the shout but I damn well fell like it and she now goes 85+...... smooth. Just wanted to thank you all for the great info. They mods only took a couple of hours.
